Week 106: Homeward Bound

October 17, 2022

It was a good Preparation Day, my plans to ship my bike fell through but we will be able to figure that out tomorrow, thanks to the office staff. We had a pretty normal night, visited Jeff and he gave us some of his Christian cd's. We visited the Schimmer's, the Cronquist's and Rachel. Jake and Dylan gave us hugs before we left. Finished off with Facebook in the same Family History center that I started doing Facebook in. Grateful for the good day.

Today was it. I'm sitting in the basement of the mission home right now with a bunch of excited Elders walking around. Thought I'd try to take a moment to journal so I don't have to catch up tomorrow.

We woke up early to get to the transfer train on time. We pretty much hung around the mission office and worked on getting my bike shipped. Said goodbye to a bunch of people and helped move stuff around. After the trainer's meeting, we took all of our luggage to the mission home and visited the Ventura Cross. Then we came back and had dinner, a testimony meeting, and then said goodby to Elder Hales and Elder Skinner. Now it's time to try to go to bed with all this pandemonium haha. We get up at 1:30am so we can make our flight on time. Next time I write in here I won't be a missionary. That went pretty fast.

(Letter from the Mission President)

Dear Elder Huff,

Thank you for your service in The Great California Ventura Mission. It has been a great privilege serving with you.

Your dedicated missionary service is the foundation upon which you can build your testimony and commitment to the Lord for the rest of your life. A mission is not the peak of your spiritual growth, it is just the beginning. Our hope is that you will continue to find joy progressing in the Lord's work.

It is with great appreciation that we write this letter as you conclude your formal missionary service as a proselyting missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You have served the Lord with all of your heart, might, mind, and strength and are deserving of the accolade "Well done thou good and faithful servant." We are so grateful for your example and leadership that you have rendered as you have served. Your example and efforts impacted many people far beyond your knowledge or assignments. You have been given the gift of leadership and as you seek to use it to build the kingdom of God you will be a great force for good as long as you live. Remember to continue to nourish your gospel learning through daily scripture study and constant prayer. A mission is a foundation upon which we can build our gospel knowledge throughout the rest of our lives. Attend the temple frequently and always carry an active temple recommend and be worthy to hold it. We love you very much and look forward to hearing from you in the coming years. Always stay faithful and stay in touch.

With love,

President and Sister Carter

California Ventura Mission
