Week 102: Arroyo Vista
September 19, 2022
Today was Preparation Day and we had a good time. Started with some basketball, got our chores done, and then had some Chik-Fil-A for lunch. Then we went to Little Calf Creamery with the district for our activity. It was really good ice cream, but I ate way too much of it. So I ended up not eating dinner tonight because I was not hungry, and I am still not hungry as I go to bed. But it was a good night, just did the usual and got work done. Refueled for another week.

Went on an exchange with Elder Larson, we had a great day. Very thankful for some things that break up our regular routine. We did our studies and did some service at the local Foodshare. I've learned to love doing community service just to show love for the people we are serving.
We were doing Spanish work for the rest of the day, and had some good success. I zone out because I obviously can't speak Spanish. I did have Elder Larsen translate my testimony to one of their friends. Had a great day, and got to see Elder Holmstead and Elder Brian today, we've got a lot of awesome missionaries here in Moorpark. Excited for tomorrow, we'll get to support Sheargo at his baptism.

We were pulled in many different directions today. Our first thing was doing interviews. I got to do an interview for my temple recommend, just a limited one to last until I can get another from home. After that we got to go on a new missionary Zoom with Brother Paris from the MTC, it's a new program they're trying out. After that, we went and found our lesson cancelled, so we stopped and saw Nadia. She let us all sit down and have a lesson, we talked about how important it is that we trust God. So she is praying and reading the Book of Mormon to build that up.
After dinner we went to the baptism of a friend of Elder Anderson and Elder Barnes, always great. Our days here are pretty busy, which I'm thankful for.

Today was one of these days that starts with a lot of studies. We are still seeking more energy, and so we've been reading Adjusting to Missionary Life. We've been learning a lot from our extra studies. I've really been focusing on Preach My Gospel now that I've been training.
We had a lesson with Jeffrey today, and he showed me some bass guitars and a bunch of other cool stuff that he has, he is also a Beatles fan. Kept busy for the night and made a yellow dot, we are just chugging along. I'm trying to help Elder George see how much he's been improving. Tomorrow should be a good district council.

We had a good district council, learned about the importance of using the words of the Living Prophets in our teaching from Elder Wilson. From Hermana Smith we learned about how to ask better questions. I was grateful to be edified and learn some very helpful pointers from the other missionaries.
After lunch we had a Zoom training with the Carter's and the Assistants. Elder Hales and Elder Skinner had to hustle back from our district council to get on. We had visits with Sister Dorothy and Sister Wutkee, and had a really good phone call with Rachel. Rachel says she's coming to church, so that will be awesome! A bit of a slow day, but it all turned out great and worth it.

Today we got out of the apartment early in the morning to try to catch the people who are out in the morning on a beautiful Saturday. It was a really pretty day, not too hot, and so we rode our bikes around the neighborhoods. Talked to a couple of people who are interested in us coming by again. Elder George showed a lot of growth, he is starting to lead out contacts now.
We washed some windows for the Hopkin's and then they gave us some lunch, and also had a visit with the Fischer's. The rest of the day was a little bit slow, but we got some good stuff done.
Rachel is committed to come to church tomorrow, and so we're super excited for that. I think it will really excite the members too, to see a new face at church.

The highlight of the day was Rachel coming to church, and she brought her kids to church. We think she liked it, and so we're excited for her to keep going. We got some good studies in as well.
For some reason later in the afternoon, we could not find a single soul either in our outside of their house. But we did have three member visits, so that was another good thing that happened. But it was a good week, the transfer is halfway over.
