Week 101: Arroyo Vista

September 12, 2022

A good Preparation Day, we played Pickleball for our district activity. Had Fire Guys for lunch, and got to see most of the missionaries. Had some member visits in the evening, and did some Facebook work, trying to get that going. Some members gave the other elders a huge cake, and so I've made a personal goal to eat less of it.

Had exchanges today with Elder Barnes. This Elder is the biggest sweetheart. We had a good morning, went outside in the sun and found a decent amount of people to talk to. Had some great studies and had a lesson with the Walker's. They are some kind older folks who like to give out avocados.

We ate Little Caesar's for dinner, felt like I was going to die after. Then we had a lesson with Rachel, and it went really, really well. She loves the way that we are super open with our church, and I think that she wants a good foundation for her boys too. She's a seeker, exactly who we are looking for. I'm always nervous for these lessons that I really care about, because you really want it to go well. But it was a fruitful day, we got good things done and a lot of good things started.

Had a really great day. But it didn't start out that way. The day was pretty normal, and was going slowly downhill. There were a lot of little things that were happening that were making the day sub-par. And right as I was feeling pretty down, an awesome thing happened. We went to a lesson with a less-active brother in our ward, and he introduced us to his non-member wife who is an amazing lady. We didn't even know she existed before today. Very thankful that God let us be a part of that today.

Later in the day we made plans for Rachel to go to a Relief Society activity tomorrow. Super excited for that. We were very blessed today.

Today was a little bit slower, but we were still able to get some good things done. We had our studies, a social media power hour, and our weekly planning session. So it was pretty late in the day by the time we were free. We had dinner with the Heathcote's, we were just hanging with Brother Heathcote and eating In-N-Out. We stopped by a bunch of people today and set up a bunch of contacts and visits. We tried applying some new social media strategies today, hope it pans out. Excited for district council tomorrow.

September 16, 2022

We had a district council today, the people who gave discussions were Elder Larsen, Elder Wester and I. I talked about helping people keep commitments through promising blessings and testifying. A lot of times that's the issue with teaching people, they fizzle out after a while. So our goal is to help them see what blessings are available to them. We had a Zoom meeting later in the day, and then visits with the Schimmer's, Sister Dorothy, and went to Panda Express with the Nordblad's.

A good day, finished with a lot of member visits and setting up visits for tomorrow. Should be a good day, I'll be on exchanges with Elder Wester.

Elder Wester and I had a great day. In the morning, we were able to talk to a bunch of people. It felt good to get outside in the morning air. Had a lesson cancel, but then soon had one with the Gillman's. They both are suffering from some really hard health issues, but Sister Gillman still has a good attitude and outlook on life. After that until dinner it was a little rough, not too many people were home.

For dinner we went to this little place in Moorpark called "Yummy Hawaiian BBQ," so as expected, it was really good. After dinner was more successful, there were a lot of people out in Peach Hill. We were able to find some interested people and teach a lesson in the road. We shared 1 Nephi 10:18-19. Finished off with some member calls and Facebook, as per usual. Love Elder Wester, he's a great Elder.

We went to Stake Conference today, and it was great to hear from the Carter's. Afterwards we did a baptismal interview for Sheargo, and it was very quick and easy, that guys is so prepared. It'll be exciting to get to go to his baptism.

We did some more studies to get Elder George trained, and then went out and had a successful time making some yellow dots. Within the span of half an hour we had great success, very blessed in that. Had dinner with the Fanger's and then a visit with the Wadman's, and a testimony meeting for the new missionaries, and Elder George improved a lot. Love that elder, doing my best to push him without being hard on him. I think another great week going forward.
