Week 100: Arroyo Vista

September 5, 2022

Today was pretty hectic, we got all of my stuff to the church building and helped out with bringing the new missionaries in. I got to meet Elder George at the airport today, but my cover hasn't been blown yet. We had dinner, a testimony meeting, and then headed up to Santa Maria. Got to sleep on the floor.

Last day with Elder Hales, I'll miss that Elder and seeing him often and hearing the death beeps. We finished the transfer train, and they dropped me off so I could be at the trainer's meeting. I was paired up with Elder George, and we headed to our area with Elder Anderson and Elder Barnes in the back. We all went shopping together, and then got a move on to our night. We had some really good member visits with the Jones and the Campbell families. Great day, only barely got our feet wet.

Today was Elder George's first full day in the mission field. We had to be careful with our day and limit our travel, because we have a mile limit. We went contacting and did a bunch of member stop-by's. The bread and butter of this area will be member work.

We ended having a couple of member visits, the Tingey's and some other members. We had a scare this morning and found that our dots disappeared. I had a trial of faith before they reappeared back in our Areabook. So I'm thankful for that, and I'm excited for another day tomorrow.

Today was a good day. We worked hard and were blessed for it. We started out our day with some stop-by's. We tried to street contact in the morning, but we found that not too many people were out. It took a lot of faith to really give it the guts today, but we were blessed to talk to Rachel. She goes to a different church, but she is interested in hearing some more from us. We were able to have three member visits as well. It was a really good boost we had today. Elder George contributed more today and we really hit the studies.

I'm very grateful for this day, God really answered my prayers today.

We had District Council today and it went well. I shared about having the Spirit in our missionary work. We got to know each other better, and counseled about how to improve our areas. For the rest of the afternoon, we did a lot of companionship studies. I figure that we can more valuable spend our time getting Elder George trained up rather than wander the streets. Had a lesson with Sister Duque and the Bennett's. Great day, we'll have a nice open day tomorrow.

A great day today. We had a Walk Day today, and it went great. Our houses are a little too big to justify walking between all of them. So we decided to take our bikes down into our area and contact people that way. Then we mistakenly went by the Dain's, and then ran into Nadia as we were biking down the street. It was a miracle we found her, because she can't come out often because of health issues. Very grateful to God for that opportunity to talk with her.

I love biking for some reason, really makes you feel alive. Kept busy for the rest of the day and finished off with some social media.

We had a great day at church, I got to see some of the ward members that I always met with in my first two transfers. After some studies, we had dinner with the West family, and a lesson with Nadia. In our lesson, we went way too deep into Adam and Eve, but it was still a really good lesson. A great day, finished off the day with a visit with the Melzer family. Brother Melzer committed Elder George to read the Book of Mormon by the end of the week. We'll see how it goes.
