Week 95: Oxnard
August 1, 2022
Today was a very busy Preparation Day. We started off with basketball as usual. Then we got groceries, went to our district activity, got a haircut, and had lunch with May and some of her family. That was fun. May is the best. After our office staff meeting, we had lessons with Paul, Faye, and the Lara's. Great day, MLC tomorrow.

We had MLC, and it went pretty over time, just like the good old days. We doubled up and also had exchanges with Elder Skinner and Elder Burkhart, the Zone leaders from Santa Maria. we started it off by doing service for a lady named Susan, helping her move stuff out of some storage units. Then we went to Chili's for dinner, as per the tradition. I went with Elder Burkhart for the rest of the night, had a lesson with Tim, and had some good contacting done. A great day, over in a flash.

Today we helped take care of a mission Zoom, because the Carter's were on the road. It's not very often that we come up with things on the fly. After lunch we had some throwback to doing technology stuff, I was off to the side reporting Areabook, while Elder Hales was on a tech council Zoom call with the Church's DTC. We got to visit Kim today, she is a recent convert from a while ago, and we are helping her read the scriptures consistently again. She is a genuinely awesome lady who feared from very real and understandable trials. I love getting to help people realize the key to joy in Christ is really the very simple things. We had lessons with Viri and Brother Jones as well, Brother Jones is working on coming back to church. An awesome day in paradise, what more could I ask for? We'll spending the night in SLO tomorrow, should be fun.

Today we drove up to San Luis Obispo, to go on exchanges with the elders here. I went with Elder Bentley, and Elder Hales went with Elder Thomas. It was a good dy, we had some contacting to do, and got to talk to some nice people. For some reason, a lot of old people as well. We went to Firestone for dinner, had a lot of good food, and contacted at a street fair. It was a great day, I always love being up here in SLO.
August 5, 2022
We drove down from SLO today, and stopped by the Orcutt District's District Council. Learned about spiritual gifts and about finding in some different ways. After driving back, we were so dead tired and it always seems to be that way when we visit Tim. But we had a good lesson anyway. Got to visit Robert and the Ramos family, and had a good lesson, we call that lesson "charity bread" because we talk about Christ feeding the five thousand. I ate it at the skate park this morning, so that was pretty funny haha.
Life is good, trying to not walk through my mission in a daze.
August 6, 2022
May took us to lunch again today, we talked some more about her baptismal date, and she is feeling good about the whole thing. She has good family support and we will probably move her date back just a bit. We had another lesson with Nikkos, had our usual song and dance, that is, being a punching bag for anti. We also had a lesson with Charlie, and made a baptismal calendar for him to be baptized on the 24th of September! He is doing great making progress and living the Word of Wisdom.
It was a good day, the only thing we struggled to do was find someone who wasn't out of elote, or street corn. That was a pretty low blow.

Robert came to church today, which is becoming a regular thing. There were some really great testimonies borne today, one by President Basua that really helped me out. We were kind of dragging tail today, but it all ended up just fine. We had a lesson with Charlie, not Miramontes, and it went pretty well, we just need to have a little more honed in lessons.
We had some wings for dinner with Sister Vera and her sons, and later a lesson with the Liporadas and most of the young men before they head off to camp. Finished the week off strong with more great testimony in the New Missionary testimony meeting.
