Week 81: Newbury Park

April 25, 2022

Today we accomplished a lot, we were able to go on a hike to a waterfall and play some water balloon volleyball. Also did some skating. We were out in the sun a lot, and we are both sunburned, pretty badly.

After a visit with James Pace and his family, we had a busy night and were able to find someone through social media, so we have good momentum. This is going to be a different week, and I think a memorable one. We also just got back from an impromptu car ride to take Elder White and Elder Johnson back to their apartment, because their fan belt broke on their way home.

A great day, even though we were super tired the whole day haha. We had some tech stuff and ZLC to take care of, and then we had a lesson with Hildegard. We've decided to not teach her further, just because she doesn't t really have a strong desire to seek out God. She's still a very nice lady, and we'll go say hi every now and then.

After some more finding, we had a really good lesson with Rick, and Johnny joined, who is his son. An awesome kid, he loves to read, and we gave him a picture Book of Mormon to read with his dad. So we're excited to help them learn together. Good things on the rise, tomorrow is hopeful.

We had a pretty standard morning, studies and then tech council. Before lunch, we took the Agoura Elders to get their fixed car, and then got some 4 for 4's at Wendy's. We did some service for James Storehouse again. We got to sort food and take apart some cribs today, some high-octane stuff. We didn't have a whole lot of finding time today, but we're not going to be too worried, because we are prioritizing our time with member work and social media. We had a couple of really good member visits, reviewing conference and talking about our seeds of faith. Tomorrow should be a good day, I'm hoping I get to stick around with Elder Hales for another transfer, because we've got a good thing going here.

Had a good day of staying busy. We had a bunch of tech stuff, and then we did a lesson with Abriti. She and her family are the kind of people that are really easy to have charity for, because they have charity back. She always remembers our names, her kids are always super happy to see us, and she is always super intent on listening and asking questions, she really has the gears clicking. But sadly, they will all be taking a trip to Switzerland for the next couple of weeks, so our communication will be limited to email for just a little while. But they'll come along, and things will progress as God sees fit.

We also donated blood tonight. It all went well, except for the fact I passed out. But I live to die another day. Good day, we also had a visit with Erastus Erasmus, a good guy, we're trying to find his records to help him activate and come into the ward.

Today was another interesting one, most of our day was surrendered to meetings, or tech stuff, or different activities. We had a great district council, we learned more about the Sabbath Day and about grace. After that, we headed up to Agoura Hills to pick up Elder Winn and Elder Starkey, so Elder Hales could train Elder Winn on his new assignment as our mission's referral manager.

While they did that, Elder Starkey and I took a little outing to find some people. Got to see some ducklings on the way. We took them back to Agoura so they could get ready for our Zone flood into Agoura. After going home and taking dinner, we headed back and started on our Zone flood, and we were assigned to drive to Calabasas and contact there. Lots of diverse, wealthy people. We all had a great time, found success, and what more could you ask for? We've had a great time with our zone, they are some fun people.

After our studies this morning, we went to a baptism in Westlake for their friend Albert, because they asked us to share an interlude message. After that, we did some weekly planning to prepare for the first week of the transfer. Had a slower day, but kept things going and kept things moving. Also had dinner with the Baldwins. After dinner, we did a lot of member work and Facebook work.

I'm grateful that God's always helped me, through thick and thin, even if I can't tell sometimes. Transfers are coming up and there's a certain melancholy about it, but things always turn out, like they always do.

A shorter one tonight. We had a good day at church, and I'm happy with the work I've been able to do so far. I learned yesterday that I'm getting transferred to the Simi Valley 5th ward, and get this: My companion is going to be Elder Strauss! Crazy we're going to be companions again. Said some goodbye's today, sad to be leaving these friends I've made here. But as always, it's on to good things.
