Week 75: Newbury Park

March 14, 2022

It was a good Preparation Day. We made frosted drinks with the Agoura District, courtesy of Elder Winn. Then we watched some church videos movie-theater style in the FHC with the Newbury District. Bought some Tech Decks too.

We got to unwind sufficiently, and I was able to reach out to some good people from home. We all have the things in our past that we weren't proud of, and what I've been glad to do is kind of "reunite" with my "past" through a Gospel lens. It's a blessing to live the Gospel. I'm never happier than when I'm keeping the commandments God's given us.

Today was a good start to the week. We had a bunch of tech stuff to do in the morning, we have been trying to make some adjustments to the Facebook policy changes. We had ZLC, and afterwards we were able to talk to our friend Gary, we'll go by this Saturday at 4. We had another lesson with the Boyce's, they are going to pray about if May is the right month to be baptized. A fulfilling day, I'm looking to getting to do some more service tomorrow, it lightens the soul.

March 16, 2022

Today we got some really good work done. We started off the day with a Tech Council Zoom, and then went to the doctor's office after lunch. Then we did some service, did some different things. We sorted some food first of all, a lot of which is actually from our church. I think it's amazing that you could have a hard time finding a place that our church doesn't donate things to. Then we fixed a bike and sorted through car seats. A fun time, some diverse things to do. We beat the streets some, and stopped by a few people, and had a visit with Sister Lee.

Today, I increased my spiritual resilience, became closer with God, and felt the Spirit in small and simple ways.

After some personal study and a micro Zoom, we went by and helped Brother Marshall out with some more service; there Elder Hales almost lost his fingers a couple of times to a pretty sketchy grinder while we were taking apart a rusty gazebo. Did some whitewash sheets, and went finding for a couple of hours. We have been taking on an Ammon approach to missionary work the past couple of weeks, and if nothing else, it makes your days go by much more joyfully. We also got to have good member visits with the Busch and the Badurek families. Things have been going well, right now I think we are honing in on the quality, not the quantity of people we find to teach.

We had district council today with the Agoura district, the last one of the transfer. We drove around in our new Nissan Frontier, the mission switched out our Tacoma. After the ritual Panda Express stop, we did some studies and then did some more stop-by's. It was a really good day, because we were able to set up a lot of lessons and get in contact with some people that we haven't been able to for a while. We were able to have an unplanned member visit, and we feel good about the work that we did today.

We planned a lot of service today, and it all went great, but it went a lot longer than we thought it was going to. One of the things we did was for a nice British lady named Dawn, we gardened with her. She is such a nice lady. After yet another Munchy Meal lunch, we did more service with Chris; we chopped wood and he even ordered us some lunch. We then left to have dinner with the Congelliere's, and so that means we had three full meals in the span of about five hours. We were able to get some stop by's in, but that's about it for the day. We get calls tonight if we have a change from being in our position.

March 20, 2022

Today was really busy, as per usual on Sundays. As Brother Hyde put it once: "Whew, all finished with another day of rest." We had a training on this new PMG stuff for new missionaries, and then had a companionship study, followed by some tech stuff. We had dinner with the Jones', and then we had a member visit with the Baldwin's.

A really good transfer, went by in the blink of an eye. I'm staying here with Elder Hales for another transfer, it'll continue being a lot of fun.
