Week 52: Goleta
October 4, 2021
Not too much to report on today, we got together and signed shout-outs. It was an amazing transfer, and I really enjoyed my time with Elder Marks. Learned so much, and really looking forward to an even busier time this next transfer. I'm also looking forward to working with Elder Tree, he's a great elder. Also, the Solvang elders are spending the night for Elder Slinn's flight tomorrow.

Today we woke up at 3:30am so we could get Elder Slinn to the airport on time for his flight to San Francisco, as well as going to the consulate to get some of his Visa work done. So we made sure that we went back to sleep.
When we woke up, we got the transfer train going, and were very busy with that for a while. We actually had four elders in our area today. Elder Slinn's companion, Elder Barnes, and Elder Huhtala, who is leaving for Portugal on Thursday. So we had a fun day. I went with Elder Huhtala, and Elder Tree went with Elder Barnes. And neither of them have ever been in this area before today. We were able to start teaching someone named Joshua, who is the brother of a sister in our ward. We had a great time, Elder Huhtala is a fantastic elder, he'll do great things in Portugal.
We had a great rest of our night and finished with a Zone Zoom. It was incredibly hectic, and I expect it will be the same tomorrow.

Today we had a Zone Leader Conference, and got some good things done so that we could figure out our vision of helping the Zone. We always want to set that up, so we know what we're working towards.
We had a bunch of time to street contact today while we were in a trio with Elder Huhtala. We thought it was going to be a weird dynamic, but it actually was fine, and pretty fun. We started teaching this cool kid named TJ, this super tall kid who plays basketball for his high school. So it was a fun, but also crazy, busy day. We got to finish off the night with visits with Brother Esplin and the Grimand's, they are all great people.

We had a lot of busy work today, Stake Reports and things like that. A lot of calling and gathering information for the Stake. We had an awesome lesson with Joshua, and he opened up to us more, he's kind of soft-spoken. He's open to seeing if the Book of Mormon holds truth for him, which is all we ask of anybody. We also committed him to meet with us twice a week, which will be huge for his progression.
We had a good night of finding, although we didn't find anybody new to teach. We did get contacted by a super nice Muslim lady though. Then we finished off the night with some member visits, with Brother Pearce and the Record's. Brother Pearce gave us some good advice about any kind of work, something called R & I, or Resources and Initiative. Enlightening stuff.

Today we had a district council, it went well, we talked about the Spirit and how important it is. Also about how it changes and sanctifies us. I think if I were to have a long enough spiritual experience, I could change so much about myself haha.
We had a super cool thing happen with TJ today. We invited Nathan Simms to fellowship, and they are actually on the same basketball team, which is awesome! So had some good fellowship right from the start, and TJ shows a ton of potential. He read the whole pamphlet and some of the Book of Mormon in the two days after we gave him the invitation. If we can just get him to live CPR (Church, Pray, Read) and get him involved in some other youth, he'll be right there.
We had an awesome experience talking to Ray, Lion Hawk, and Victor tonight all at the same time. It's too hard to explain why it's awesome.

We had a walk day, and it went great! We walked to a lesson with John, but he wasn't home, but someone who lives with him was! Her name is Jordanna, and she is a super nice lady. We started teaching her. Also started teaching someone named Adair, he wants to help him and his wife to come closer to God.

We had an awesome sacrament meeting today, Brother Archibald gave a talk that rocked my world, it was about the law of consecration and consecrating ourselves to the Lord. I'm working towards completely consecrating myself to Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father.
We had a lesson with Joshua, and we got to start teaching his mom! She was nice, we got her in the lesson because she wanted to give us some extra potatoes that she had. Joshua's cool, he likes Pokemon, so we all connected on that point haha. Then we had dinner with the Douglas', who have lived in Nephi and knew the Poulsen's. After a couple of lessons falling through, we called a bunch of people and had an interesting lesson with the Evelyn's who have been having a rough time lately. But it was an amazing week, I hope and pray that it will continue like this.
