Week 9: Thousand Oaks

December 7, 2020

Today was P-day, and we had a nice break, went outside, had a jolly time, and did Facebook for three hours. I also played a ton of piano. Ate some good food, made some good jokes.

Today I kind of took charge of most things because I'm almost halfway done with my training. I've learned so much, and the Spirit has never been stronger in my life. I feel it when I read the scriptures, and I feel it when I teach. I'm grateful for that, because I would be useless if not for the Lord's guidance and strength. I have been humbled again and again, and when I rely on my own strength and knowledge, I really struggle. But I can feel the Spirit of God residing within me when I focus and do what's right, and I'm grateful for it.

Today was a good, hard day of work, and we finally got to teach Chris! It went really well, and we are teaching him again tomorrow. I'm really hopeful for him, so keep him in your prayers! We haven't found anybody new, but we are still on the grind, reaching out to anybody we can, and that's the only way to do it. Also, we spent the day eating candy and snacks because the packages came today, so thanks, Mom! And we are going to decorate the mini tree soon.

Today was good, and we found another person through Facebook! His name is Derek, and I really look forward to teaching him on Monday. We are just keeping on the grind and trying to find people. I can honestly say we are doing everything we can, so I'm okay with the results we've gotten so far.

December 11, 2020

Today we had our last District Council of the transfer, and I really hope that all of us in the apartment stay here. This transfer has gone by so fast, and I'm hoping that at least Elder Maeser and I stay together. It feels like we're just getting started. It seems like I just flew in yesterday and I'm still learning so much. We just stay on the grind, and I keep learning more and more.

December 12, 2020

There's not a whole lot to say about today, except that we tried haha. We couldn't reach any members that could do a member visit, so we did Facebook for about 3 1/2 hours. We cast out a lot of lines, and we didn't get any bites. But we'll keep working hard. It's a grind, but I didn't expect any less when I came out here.

December 13, 2020

Today we got a call from the Zone Leaders, and Elder Maeser is going to be a Zone Leader in the Ventura Zone! We thought for sure that we were going to stay together, but the Lord needs him there, I guess. My follow up trainer is going to be Elder Sexton and I have been on exchanges with him already, so I think we'll get along and do a good job. It's definitely going to be different.
